“Mensiyin” or “The Forgotten” is a social project for indigent and poor families as well as individuals in Lebanon. The project was initiated through the frame of a radio program on the Voice of Charity Radio in Lebanon.

The difficult political situation reflects on the economical condition and as result on the society. The living costs increase weekly, as does the unemployment rate leading the distress of the people to escalate. This is resulting in a loss of the middle class and leading the poor to become even poorer.

The big goal and ambition of this project is to help these desperately needy people, to take them out of their worsening situation and fulfil their most essential needs.

Primarily, families and elder women and men receive help, who seem to be “forgotten” in society. There are people, who are not able to appease their poverty due to different reasons. Necessities include a place to live, nutrition, medical care etc. The goal is to give the people reliable and sustainable help.

In Lebanon there is a small office, where a social assitant has consultation – hours three times a week. Everyone will be welcomed there, who needs help. Then there will be checked up, who really needs help and in coordination with Father Jean Abou Khalife arranged, which form the support could take.

Concrete Help

Since this project is a social project, the goal is to help as much people as possible and to pull them out of their desperate situation. The motive is to let them live in dignity. Help is always adminitered individually, according to person‘s needs.

Generally this type of help includes:

• Payment of apartment rents
• Monthly pocket money
• Operations, medical treatment
• Medication
• Nutrition packages of stample food (e.g.: Milk, rice, flour, salt, sugar etc.)
• School fees
Vision of the Project

• Each person who thought they were forgotten shall become part of a family - of people who support him
• He shall know God sent him those people
• Because God cares for even the birds in heaven
• People who help are like Simon, who carry the heavy cross with Jesus
• Everyone should have the right to live the life God gave him and to live it in joy and shall have the possibility to make his dreams come true

The radio program is a weekly broadcasting on Sawt Al-Mahaba (Voice of charity). You can listen live to it every Friday at 10:30 p.m. (Lebanon time) via Internet www.radiocharity.org

Our goal is to create a worldwide band of supporters who are willing to give their poor and forgotten brothers and see Jesus in them.

The slogan is taken from the jingle of the radio program:
